When we were brought on to this project, the plan was simple – update the finishes, maybe remove a wall here or there, but keep the footprint in tact. Much to our surprise, at the next site visit we found the interior completely demo’d. It was a shock, but such a fun one. We had a great time working on customizing this home specially for our client and marrying her glam-farmhouse-classic style with the 1940s house, and a dash of her son’s modern tastes thrown in.
The house hadn’t been updated in decades, so the layout was very closed and the finishes super dated. We moved the kitchen to the back of the house, added an amazing covered porch, and opened up the floor plan as much as the structure would allow.
The before and after photos are unreal! The kitchen is unrecognizable. Not only does it look beautiful, but our client is now set up with a kitchen that fits her lifestyle so well.
Seriously. Before and afters are so fun.
There are two full bathrooms in the home, with two very different looks. The hall bath leaned more modern for the homeowner’s son, and the primary bath was all glam for her.
The primary bathroom was designed around the shower accent tile chosen by our client. We love how clean, calm, and feminine this bathroom feels.
Both fireplaces got a major facelift…
Side note: that mantel on the family room fireplace is a 100 year old beam from an old warehouse in Portland.
Two rooms we added were a powder bath and butler’s pantry. These rooms add a ton of functionality (and personality!).
